Effective Communication is Attractive

Having two people who can communicate in a romantic relationship is vital, and attractive. It says they are more than likely confident and secure with themselves, they are emotionally aware, self-aware, observant, concise and in most cases, a great communicator is a great listener.

While you need other components to make a relationship work, communication is HUGE. If you don't have effective communication, the relationship will eventually collapse. Communication is a part of what makes a relationship, a relationship.

Clear, direct, honest and consistent communication is sexy.

"The depth, frequency, and duration create an implied undercurrent of closeness and togetherness. And not just sharing needs or desires but the simple types of communication that say, "Hey! I think about you and am interested in who you are." -Todd Baratz

It's important not to ignore bad communication if it exists in your relationship.

"Confusion, poor boundary setting, mixed signals, and unresponsiveness exacerbates insecurity and disrupts intimacy. These are the red flags that sound an alarm not to be ignored. This is about relational learning or a lack-there-of. It's also about distance, avoidance, and self-protection. There is an action and reaction. Communication is a responsive dynamic; the response to communication will impact the trajectory and depth of where a prompt goes. Waiting to be prompted guarantees no connective communication will unfold." -Todd Baratz

Don't play games.

"Don't base your communication style on someone else. Just because they're not direct or attentive doesn't mean you should strategize a response that matches their lack of communication availability." -Todd Baratz
